205 Ronald Fryklund

March 1, 1941 - November 25, 2017

Ron passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was born on a farm outside Kindersley, SK, and moved to Moose Jaw with his family when he was a young boy. He went on to find fulfillment doing Social Work in his younger years, and then later in the Commissionaires until his retirement. He always cared deeply about those he interacted with and considered a friend; he would always speak positively about those who had impacted his life. Ron had excellent recall and loved to tell stories. As a Bridge Life Master, he could remember bridge hands from 30+ years ago, and would delight in telling you stories about his favorite game. His proudest moment was when he became a father to Kristina (Krissy). She was his "puffin". He loved to take her for pizza and to the movies. They would often go on day trips to Regina, and every summer they would go to Calgary to visit Ron's maternal Aunt Effie. He always tried his hardest to ensure Krissy had a relationship with his side of the family, including his Aunt Ursula Fryklund, her son Grant, and Grant's children Kasia, Tessa, Zoe, and Leif. Ron was predeceased by his mother Jean and his father Stanley. He is survived by his daughter Krissy, and his brother Keith. In keeping with Ron's wishes, there will be no service, but there will be a small family gathering in the Spring, on his birthday, at the family homestead by Kindersley. Thank-you to everyone who was part of his "Sunday Group at 9," he loved and depended so much on the support there everyone provided to him. Also, thank-you deeply to Paul Marcil, who was his best friend. Thank-you Paul for always looking out for Ron, your friendship meant everything to him. Inlieu of flowers, monetary and clothing donations can be made to Extendicare in Moose Jaw, where Ron's brother Keith lives.Good-bye to a Father, Brother, Son, and Friend. You will always be missed and forever remembered. In living memory ofRonald, a memorial tree planting will be made by JONES Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries). Stephanie Lowe - Funeral Director

235 Sourisford and Area from 1879

On Feb 1, 1886, John B. [Elliot] married Lydia Snyder, the third youngest daughter of Amos and Catherine Snyder. She was born in 1863 and had come to Sourisford with her parents and other members of her family in 1882. The children born to this union were: Charles, born November 1886; Mamie, born December, 1888; Hazel, born July, 1892; and Margaret, born in 1901.

The first year of their marriage their crop was partially hailed and later a prairie fire took what was left. In 1903, their home was burned so they moved into the Essena house on the north half of the same section. They were building a new house in 1905 when a cyclone destroyed the partially built house and damaged the Essena house in which they were still living. Mrs. Elliot was hit with falling timber during the cyclone and was killed. Her daughter Margaret was sitting on her mother's knee at the time, but was not injured.

238 The best-known and longest-lasting Berlin flour mill began in April 1878 when town council granted a five-year tax exemption allowing Lawrence Doering of Linwood to erect a steam-powered grist mill on Queen South beside the Grand Trunk Railway tracks. The three-storey frame of the $12,000 mill was erected in one day by a 100-worker construction bee on June 27. Two years later, brickyard owner John Bramm purchased the business for $7,000 and under his sons John Jr. and George, the renamed Berlin Roller Mill was enlarged and it prospered for 27 years. Taking over in 1907 was Irvine Master, son of longtime MPP Isaac Master. He had moved to Berlin from his Plattsville milling operation and installed a 65-horsepower direct-current motor to run modern rolling and sifting equipment. Master's City Flour Mill became well-known for its "King," "Banner," "Graham" and "Master's Best" flours while also producing custom feed and grindings. Ralph Koch took over in 1939 but sold to Fred Kissner Sr. in 1943. His sons, Fred Jr. and Del, oversaw Kissner Milling until it departed 600 Queen S. in 1985. - Waterloo Region Record 22 Feb 2019 Master, Irvine (I32)
